More family art

Hey!

Still going up the family tree, here are some watercolours from my great-uncle (Francois Beaudouin) and paintings from his mother Josephine (my great grandmother). She is known for her detailed paintings and her unusual choice of format: she painted on marble stones!
Both have achieved a great deal of control in their techniques...

Dad's oldies

Now going one generation up! Theses are some of my dad's (Laurent Lalo) old sketches. The annoying thing is that he wasn't even trying to make nice drawings! he was just looking for the right ink/colour/paper combination. An endless quest for the right technique that eventually led him to the computer. He's one of the few first Illustrators to use Painter the Wacom and digital techniques professionally.
A shame that most of these sketches had to go to the local recycling center:( I'm glad I managed to save a few on camera.

Old Art!

Well if you can call it Art??

These are some of my ancient ancient work dating back to highschool where I majored in Fine arts and Photography. Keep in mind that some of this stuff is like 8 years old!! So please be nice ;)
Rediscovering that stuff after 7-8 years was quite a shock! some of it I was quite surprised with, others reassured me that it seems like I learned a few things since :)

I remember it was alot of fun trying all kind of techniques (gouache, etching, charcoal (where I got abit expressive with the monsters series) and my first ever wacom/digital drawing based on a frame of Katsuhiro Otomo's Akira).

Back Home!

Hi Guys!! I've arrived this morning back in Brissie!!
The trip was amazing and very important for me on all kind of levels.
Seeing Europe and my family and friends again was awesome!!
I would of gladly stayed longer but like they say: it's time to get back to reality..

One cool discovery I made was during a family house cleanup, where I came across old photos, books and drawings from me to my father, grandmother and great great grandmother! I will share with you a number of these in the posts to come. But for now here's a picture which I dug out, lets call it: Young Paul with a chameleon on his head.

So now you see where the inspiration for my Blog/Website Mascot comes from:) For some reasons I've always liked chameleons and picking this animal over another is not completely random:
Since I can remember: I've always had to blend in into different countries, cultures and social situations. Much like the chameleon I had to morph and adapt myself to my environment until it became second nature.

Anyhoo I hope you like!

Peace!

Paul
